success means different things for different people. some may equate it with fame, some with wealth and still some with accomplishments. for me, it means fulfilling one's dreams. whatever your dreams are, you have a goal there and then focus all your attention on it. dreams bring you hope and happiness. in the process of struggling for it, you cry, sweat, complain or even curse, but the joy of harvesting makes you forget all the pains and troubles you have gone through. so an old proverb says that the sweetest fruit is one that has undergone the bitterest ordeal.

there are several keys to success. first, your goal must be practical and practicable. if you set your goal too high, chances are that you will never attain it. next, you have to make a plan of doing it. you can take some steps to realize it. since the process is quite tough, you need to be diligent, patient and persevering. even if you meet with some difficulties or frustrations, just take them in your stride. you can always tell yourself that there is nothing insurmountable. with this will and determination, success is sure to wait for you at the end of the tunnel!

it was sunday afternoon. li ming and i were walking to the park. suddenly we saw a boy fall off his bike. we both hurried to him. since one of his legs was hurt badly, the boy couldn't stand up. he began to cry and we tried to comfort him. we put him on the bike and took him to hospital. the boy got treated at once. i telephoned his parents and told them about the whole story. they thanked us again and again. it was dark then and we said goodbye to them. we felt happy though we couldn't get to the park

in my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too heavy. while it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults. high should be allowed more time for play. plying is not wasting time, as some think. it gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination. which tends to be stifled by too much study. finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally. i do not advocate the elimination of schoolwork. i do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the society as a whole.
